Meal Plan Week #5
Sunday: Brussel Sprouts with Walnuts and Dried Cranberries
- This would make a great side dish. The flavors are good, and a little unusual. We used it as a meal, and the problem with that approach is that the flavors just become too much. You need to balance it out. Overall, not a bad dish--especially for brussel sprouts!!
Monday: Book Club (for A, leaving T to fend for himself)
Wednesday: Vegetable Gumbo
- We are honest. And as such, we have to admit that this recipe was just NOT GOOD. And what made it worse was that it smelled a lot better than it tasted. And to make it even worse, we really, really wanted this to be good--witness, below: we picked it for meal of the week.
Thursday: Leftovers from Wednesday Subway
- We couldn't eat it another night. So we split a $5 footlong at Subway for dinner.
Saturday (dinner): Dinner party with the Yp's
- We had my co-worker and her husband over for dinner. It was a lot of fun, and it gave me an excuse to buy a dutch oven and a zester! On the menu: Homemade Salsa and chips; Guacamole Salad; Crockpot Mexican Rice; Brisket Tacos; and Texas sheet cake.
Pick of the week
A: Vegetable Gumbo
T: Ditto
- Fail for both. If there was a meal of the week (not counting Saturday), it would probably be the brussel sprouts (Lord, I never thought I would say that).
