Supper Sundays (30/52)

Meal Plan Week #29
Sunday:  Pollo asado tacos and pinto beans
While this one came from the mythical Pioneer Woman, and was fun to make--see exhibit A, the bag of marinade and other good stuff, above--the marinade just didn't "bake in" during the broiling process, leaving behind pretty bland chicken.  But, with Central American flare, you pulled the chicken off the bone and ate it inside a taco with guac and salsa verde.  The guac and salsa verde covered up the blandness of the chicken.  (And in the chicken's defense, the meat was very moist.)

The beans were a total afterthought--and didn't even warrant a picture.

Okay, we are back in love with cold soups!  A. became a lover of these while on our honeymoon in Costa Rica (here; see the menu).  But we tried to make one at home almost a year ago, and we couldn't eat it--we actually tossed it!  This one, however, was great!  And the "frizzled" prosciutto was BETTER than bacon!!

I really liked this one.   But I think the texture of the couscous sort of freaked A. out.  We both agreed, however, that the chickpeas were really good, and the dish had a lot of spice.

Very filling.  You didn't even miss the meat!!

Wednesday:  Sobre Mesa (at Agave)
Thursday:  Leftovers
Friday:  K&D wedding
Saturday:  Birthday party for James

Predictions--
A:  Gazpacho
T:  Gazpacho
This is getting old.  Again, we are both winners . . . maybe this is a result of being members of the build-up-their-self-esteem generation?

I don't think I've ever eaten a chickpea, a chicken leg, or a cold soup. See? you widen my horizons sooooooo much. Not enough for me to actually try to eat of these things mind you, but I know they exist and are eaten now, ;)
