Supper Sundays (32(a)/52)

Meal Plan Week #31
Sunday:  Leftovers
Monday:  Chicken Ropa Vieja and Chipotle's Cilantro Lime Rice
This one was pretty tasty . . . and we should know our slow cooker/slow cooked-Latino-themed chicken/pork dishes by now.  The chicken started off a little dry, but once combined with the sauce (which included an ample amount of dry white wine--a bonus) and the veggies, it was very moist and tasty.  The cilantro lime rice really complemented the dish.  And, like many of these type dishes, it was even better the next day; always a plus!

Tuesday:  Leftovers + Caribbean Coconut Rice
We tried this one out to see which dish, between this one and the cilantro lime rice, would be best for a dinner party.  This one had some nice flavor--and I think we will be attempting it again--but the cilantro lime rice paired better.

Wednesday:  Mediterranean Pressed Picnic Sandwich
I will have to hand it to A. -- as most of you know, she picks the dishes, and I execute.  We both fail from time to time.  But she is definitely more creative and has the better vision as to what flavors we will actually like; case in point: this dish.  I would never had thought that a cold veggie sandwich would be something I would want for dinner.  So I would have never picked this one.  A. did.  And I am thankful for that.  It was (sort of) fun to put together, is our winner this week, and--like all standout dishes--was better the next day!

Thursday:  Leftovers
Saturday:  Dinner party (yep, another one)
 The table was set . . .

[Pre-guest-arrival] cocktails were made...

The "tools" were set out . . .

And the aftermath . . .

Sorry, but there was too much going on to attempt to take pictures of the courses as they went out . . . courses--who would have ever thought we'd offer courses? . . . anyway, here is what we had:
Most of the above should be familiar to blog fanatics, as we decided it would be smart to attempt some of these dishes before serving them to others at a dinner party . . . we are learning!

Predictions--
A:  Sandwich
T:  Chicken Ropa Vieja
As much as I hate it, A. won this one.  My pick was good, but hers was, well, better.

Meal Plan Week #32 -- STAY TUNED.  We are whipped out after last night's dinner party, and will regroup soon to hit up the G store.
