Supper Sundays (36/52)

Meal Plan Week #35
This was good.  We really appreciated the olives in it but if we're honest our expectations were too high.  The flavors were good but not as bold as we expected.  We also thought the flavors would develop by the time we had this as leftovers but unfortunately it didn't.  So, overall it's a good dish and we think others that like more subtle flavors would really enjoy it but we like our food bolder.

Monday:  The Help at The Crescent/Frozen pizza-We didn't make it to the movies until the weekend but still went with the frozen pizza.  It's our trusty stand-by if we don't want to cook but don't want to go out to eat either.

Tuesday:  BayBears (last home game)/leftovers-BayBears lost but we're in the playoffs!

Wednesday:  Pesto Caesar Salad
This was a great recipe for a caesar at home.  The dressing was just as good as any I've had in restaurants and I preferred the homemade croutons over most I've had in restaurants.  To "beef" it up you could, of course, add chicken but we were trying to limit meat this meal.

T has come along way in his cooking skills and as a result we cook more at home than when we first met. He's made plenty of meals for us now.  This one goes in his Top 10 of meals we've made at home and at this point that means something.  I have to agree.  It was good.  The marinated tomatoes, the marinade itself (which becomes the sauce), and the way the zucchini was cooked just make this dish.  The leftovers were just as good so it's a solid meal in our minds.

Friday:  Leftovers  T gave me my birthday presents early and then we decided to get a martini and that led us to go out for sushi instead of coming back home so we had the pasta leftovers from Thursday for Saturday lunch instead.  Did y'all really need that detailed explanation.  Probably not but you have it anyway.
This was a different breakfast dish for us.  You could taste the egg more than we anticipated (see that layer in the second pic-it's the egg and it gave the cake a custardy texture) but overall it was a good balance of sweet and savory.

Saturday pm:  Dinner Out for A.'s birthday (Via Emilia)-Someone you all may have heard of, Lee, came to visit so instead of driving we opted for a casual dinner downtown.

Predictions--
A:  Spaghetti-wrong
T:  Spaghetti-wrong
Pasta with Zucchini and Toasted Almonds takes the prize this week.  While the others were good this one blew away the competition.
